Skin & Facial Needling

Skin needling is a process which is similar to permanent cosmetic implantation, but without using pigments (colour implantation). This procedure is more specific and targeted to deeper wrinkles and scars where as cosmetic skin rolling is over a broader area and less evasive.

A "dry needle" is directed through the centre of crevices (wrinkles) or in and around surgical or acne scars, to draw a light bloodline. As the brain recognizes trauma to that area, it responds by generating collagen and elastin that fill a depression, filling the wrinkle from the inside out, plumping it up or smoothing out scars that are raised(scar relaxation). This procedure activates the skin's natural process of healing.

Targeted areas that can be treated:

  • Forehead Wrinkles
  • Acne Scars
  • Crows Feet
  • Surgical Scars
  • Frown Lines
  • Melanocyte Restoration
  • Wrinkles around the mouth
  • Neck Wrinkles

Depending upon the size of the area, a single session may take as little as 30 minutes. A consultation is required. This is where a case history is taken, to discuss your current medical history including what medications you are on and in addition discuss your Informed Consent & Release Forms and After Care Instructions. Photo's will be taken to record and visually chart your progress.

Post-procedure recovery will be 5 to 7 days on average. Your procedural area will look like "cat scratches" for a few days. Some crusting of the procedure area will occur but with a regimen of Vaseline application the healing process should be minimal without complications. Then once areas have healed a bit more you will be instructed to use medical grade products that help maintain the procedure that have high amounts of vitamins including vitamin A. This will have been discussed during your consultation.

Results vary with each individual depending on the area, depth of depression tissue and the clients ability to heal. Most people see results immediately and keep seeing results during the healing period through the following month.

It is recommended to book 3 treatments one month apart for 3 months. Skin needling on an average lasts 2 - 3 years. To stay on top of the aging process it is also recommended to schedule appointments every 6 - 12 months. As a wrinkle appears, then it is time to make an appointment.

Fees are based depending upon the size of the area and number of procedures, the cost is generally based on the length of time of procedure. A base rate of $250.00 per each 1/2 hour.

In some cases both needling and dermal rolling are both used. If the wrinkles in certain areas are quite deep then it is recommended to needle for approximately 3 separate session to allow the wrinkle to plump ups. This would be the primary application and then the secondary application would be dermal rolling either cosmetic or medical. This covers a larger area. All this would be determined during a consultation.
